The progress made in the development of the synthetic resins in recent years has profoundly influenced the paper industry. Ordinary paper is relatively strong and dry, however, the tensible strength and tear strength are considerably reduced when it is wet. The tensible strength and the tear strength under wet condition are increased by the incorporation of the cationic resin, during the production of the paper.
A special feature of a cationic resin is that, the resin molecule carries a positive charge, where as the cellulose fibres are negatively charged, due to this the resin is electrostatically absorbed by the cellulosic fibres even through the resin may be present in low concentration is the sub-stock. This results in preferential and effectively imparting better wet strength properties to the finished papers.
MF resin is a cationic paper resin which imparts wet strength properties to paper by the above efficient electrostatic absorption, which is not the case in normal resins. The resins can be used to improve the wet strength properties of paper produced from bleached as well as kraft pulp.
Specifications of MF resin :
- PHYSICAL STATE : Slightly pale to colourless clear viscous liquid
- REACTIVE CONTENTS : 65% – 67%
- SPECIFIC GRAVITY : 1.12-1.15%
- PH AS SUPPLIED : 6.8-7.0
We strength paper produced by the incorporation of this resin . it is used for numerous applications in which retention of strength is required under one or more of the following conditions.
- Immeraion water (photographic and laminating base paper, laundry tags, industrial filter paper, ice cream
- Exposure to moisture( wrapping paper , multi wall sanks, currency paper)
- Wiping (paper towels, facial tissues and napkins)
SUGESSIONS :
The Product should be stored in a cool dry place away from heat and hot pipe lines. Stir the Product Carboys well before use.
